Studio Rules
1. Communication, scheduling, and billing will occur through My Music Staff. Please use this site as a helpful tool before reaching out to me for questions.
2. Payments for lessons will be received before the lesson is taught. A reminder invoice will be sent out 3 days before. If you have not paid by the time of the lesson, your child will not receive a lesson.
3. Student cancellations within 24 hours and no-shows are not guaranteed a makeup lesson, nor are they subject to a refund. If I have to cancel/miss a lesson, you will receive a credit for that lesson which will be applied to the following session.
Studio Expectations
1. Materials: students should bring all of their materials to every lesson. This includes: music, reeds, swab, reed case, oboe, pencil, etc. I cannot do my job if they don’t have the necessary items. If they forget their materials, we will still have a lesson, it will just look a little different than a typical oboe lesson.
2. Reeds: I would love your child to have at least 2 (but 3 would be better) reeds in their case. They can be purchased from me or from the following places:
https://rdgwoodwinds.com/collections/oboe-reeds
https://www.wildflowerreeds.com
https://doubleornothingreeds.com
3. Practice: depending on the level of your child I suggest the following amount of practice time:
-Beginner: 3 x week for 10-15 min
-Intermediate: 4 x week for 20-30 min
-Advanced: 5 x week for 40 + min
*I understand your children are very busy. This is a
suggestion/average for your child to see progressive growth in their oboe journey.
4. Communication is key to the student-teacher dynamic. I am here for your children and want them to have the best experience. If you notice changes, good or bad, with your child in regard to oboe, please let me know. I can alter my teaching technique, but not if I do not know what is going on with your student in other areas of their life.
